Health and safety is vital in Oil and Gas industries because small oversights in operational activities, chemical handling, and end products disposal could spark injuries, accidents and in sometimes fatalities. Therefore, professionals working within the oil and gas industry must acquire sound breadth of knowledge and understanding to manage operational risks effectively.
With extensive industry research and collaborating with health and safety professionals, professional bodies and regulators, NEBOSH has designed International Technical Oil and Gas Certificate (IOGC) qualification especially for the people who work in Oil and Gas and the connected industries. Being a specialist qualification, it emphasizes on management of oil and gas operational safety in accordance with international standards and best practice recommendations so as to enable participants to effectively discharge their workplace safety responsibilities both onshore and offshore. Additionally, to provide enhanced technical knowledge, this qualification details on risk assessment, qualitative and quantative techniques, concept of hazard realisation and ALARP (“as low as reasonably practicable”), hydrocarbon process safety, Floating production storage offloading unit (FPSO’s) safety etc.

Course Syllabus:
This qualification consists of only one unit which is divided into five elements. They are
1. Health, safety and environmental management in context
2. Hydrocarbon process safety 1
3. Hydrocarbon process safety 2
4. Fire protection and emergency response
5. Logistics and transport operations
Training arrangement:
■ 13 days starts on Mar 15, 2021
■ Live Online Training – 27 hours

Who can take NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety?
■ Suitable for supervisors, managers, safety representatives and newly qualified health and safety advisors within the oil and gas industries
■ Professionals who wish to switch over to Oil & Gas field or need to gain a sound understanding of the principles of Oil and Gas Operational Safety management
Prerequisites:
■ There is no formal entry requirement for this qualification however achievement of the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (IGC) or equivalent is highly recommended.
■ As this is a specialist sector-specific qualification, experience in the oil and gas industry and an understanding of related processes would be an added advantage
■ Minimum standard of English is required

■ British Safety Council Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health
Assessment:
■ Two-hour written examination consists of ten ‘short-answer’ questions (8 marks each) and one ‘long-answer’ question (20 marks); all questions are compulsory
■ Pass Mark – 45%
